Writing Advanced SQL: Why, When and Performance Implications

This class will explain “advanced” SQL, how and why to use it, keeping the focus on performance. We will start easy and go into our daily constructs like “group by” and “having” but we will see what performance changes your coding choices can bring. We will talk about subqueries, nested table expression, common table expressions, when best to use them and what to look out for. Of course, we will talk about joins and how to tune them, DGTT’s, recursive SQL, OLAP function and SQL stored procedures. We end the day explaining how to think like the optimizer and understand why performance might not be what was expected.
