Title: Db2 Developer's Top Tens - Tony Andrews

There are many areas of Db2 application development that developers; testers; business analysts; etc; should know about. This presentation lays out my top 10 for the areas that are so important in developing a good application. Areas of importance being SQL tuning tips; programming tips; and of course performance and the Db2 optimizer. And one last area is when there is a Db2 issue affecting your development or job abend; what do you need to know before talking to a DBA.

Tony Andrews has more than 25 years’ experience in the development of relational database applications. Most of this time; he has provided development and consulting services to Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. Tony has written literally thousands of queries and programs during his development years; and has also served as a database analyst. For the last 10 years; Tony has been splitting his time between performance and tuning consulting engagements along with training. His main focus is to teach today’s developers the ways of RDBMS application design; development and SQL programming -- always with a special emphasis on improving performance. He is a current IBM Champion; and regular speaker at many regional user groups; IDUG NA; and IDUG EMEA. He is also the author of a book for developers titled ‘DB2 SQL Tuning Tips for z/OS Developers’.

Title: Db2 for z/OS Data Sharing: Performance Topics - Mark Rader, Keziah Knopp, Tori Felt

Bio:

Mark Rader is a Db2 for z/OS specialist in the IBM Z Washington Systems Center. He has 39 years of technical experience with IBM; and over 33 years with Db2 for z/OS. He has led many Db2 data sharing implementations and has presented a variety of topics at conferences; including IDUG; SHARE; IBM Technical University and at regional Db2 user group meetings. He has worked closely with Db2 development in delivering the Early Support Programs for Db2 10; Db2 11; and Db2 12. He is an author of Redbooks on Parallel Sysplex application considerations; Db2 data sharing; Db2 for z/OS distributed function; and Db2 13 for z/OS.

Keziah Knopp is a Db2 for z/OS Specialist at the IBM Z Washington Systems Center (WSC). Prior to joining the WSC Keziah focused on z/OS Communications Server; writing papers and delivering presentations on IPv6 and IBM z Encryption Readiness Technology (zERT). She has presented at SHARE conferences on communications and Db2 REST topics and is an author of the "Db2 13 for z/OS and More" Redbook. Most recently; she worked on a special project for Db2 subsystem automation; collaborating with developers and writing Python scripts.

Tori Felt is an Associate Technical Enablement Specialist in the IBM Z Washington Systems Center.  As part of the Db2 for z/OS team, Tori analyzes client data, makes technical recommendations, delivers the Db2 REST and Hybrid Cloud workshop, presents at conferences and Db2 user group meetings, and develops new workshop offerings.

Title: Application Modernization - Considered those Db2 for z/OS Capabilities? - Maryela Weihrauch

There are IBM Z application modernization initiatives ongoing in almost every organization using IBM Z Systems. Maryela shares common application modernization pattern and challenges. She will discuss Db2 for z/OS capabilities to support modern application architectures such as Microservices and share solution considerations and best practices.

Maryela Weihrauch is an IBM Distinguish Engineer, z Systems Analytics world-wide technical sales and client champion. She has extensive experience of DB2 in terms of systems, application and database design. Maryela is very engaged with enterprises world-wide driving the adoption of new analytics technologies. Her most recent roles in DB2 for z/OS Development have involved determine DB2 for z/OS strategy for HTAP (Hybrid Transaction and Analytics Processing) including IDAA strategy and implementation as well as DB2's application enablement strategy. Maryela is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and frequently shares her experience at conferences.
